Stephen Warbeck
Originally an actor, Stephen Warbeck established his reputation
as a composer for the theatre and now has scores for some
70 theatre productions to his credit. He is Head of Music
and Associate Artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
More recently he has established himself as Britain's
most sought-after film composer. Credits include
My
Son the Fanatic,
Mrs Brown,
Shakespeare
in Love (for which he won as Oscar) and the highly-successful
Billy Elliot. Concert audiences
are becoming familiar with his music, partly though orchestral
arrangements of his popular music for Shakespeare in Love.
With other contemporary composers he was recently commissioned
by the BBC to write a Challenge Cantata. Stephen is a
member of the band The Kippers, for which he composes.
