Ed Hughes

Edward Dudley Hughes (b.1968) studied music at Cambridge University. Works recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and abroad include Crimson Flames (recorded by the BBC Symphony Orchestra), Aureola and Media vita. Commissions have come from Brighton Festival, Sinfonia 21, I Fagiolini, Opus 20 and London Sinfonietta. He has also written for dance (Beijing Modern Dance Ensemble) and music theatre (Ensemble Solaris). He was composer in residence at Wingfield Arts 1998/9. He devised and directed the Explore Composing course at Dartington International Summer School, and is currently teaching and working towards a PhD in composition at Southampton University. His work for six solo voices, Sun, New Moon and Women Shouting, was toured in the UK and Norway and broadcast on BBC Radio 3 in December 2000.
